Henry Cavill will no longer be the Superman of DC/Warner Bros.
It was announcing a new movie in October last year and Henry Cavill would be part of it wearing the Superman suit. Now, at the end of 2022 the bad news came out. The new directors of the DC studios do not want the 39-year-old British actor in this role and have dispensed with his participation in the new film that will be released.
"I just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and bring sad news. After all, I won't return as a Superman. This after the studios told me to announce my return in October, before completing the hiring. This news is not easy, but that's how life is," the actor wrote on his social networks.
"The surrender of the guard is something that happens. I respect that. James and Peter have a universe to build. I wish them and all those involved in the new universe the best of theirs. For those who have been by my side over the years... It may take some time to mourn, but then we have to remember... that Superman is still around. Everything he represents still exists, and the examples he gives us are still here. My turn to use the cover has passed, but what Superman represents will never disappear,” he concluded.
The new film projected for the DC Universe will focus on the beginning of Superman and when he was still working in Metropolis, long before he became the superhero we know today.
