Rice can do as much harm to health as sweets

It is true that sweets are not the best friends of our body. Rice can be equally dangerous. The discovery was made by a study by the American College of Cardiology, USA.

Rice has similar levels of sugars and saturated oils to those found in sweets. The investigation was carried out on the eating habits of 2500 Iranians. It was concluded that half had a history of coronary artery disease and the rest had no pathology. They were asked how often they ate sugars and refined foods.

Food can be refined or whole. These foods can be flour, grains, seeds and cereals. What rests a refined product of an integral is its processing. White rice is considered refined, so it is not advisable to eat large amounts of this grain. Brown rice is the most recommended.

The study concluded that those who consume the most refined grains have a higher risk of premature coronary disease, a problem equal to those who consume many treats.

Refined products are quickly absorbed by the body, which increases the amount of sugar in the blood. If it happens regularly, it can damage the blood vessels and the heart, and lead to plaque accumulation in the arteries, which causes coronary diseases.
